Certification SCAnS® for professionals
Behaviour in Mind is officially certified to provide SCAnS® training. SCAnS® is a behavioural analysis system developed by EmotionIntell (EIA) and is applied internationally. Participants who successfully complete the training receive the official SCAnS® Practitioner Certificate from Behaviour in Mind, in collaboration with and recognised by EmotionIntell (EIA).
The SCAnS® training and certification for professionals is an intensive 3‑day programme in which you learn to analyse behaviour systematically and reliably. It is not just a compelling scientific framework — it is directly applicable in real life and in your professional practice. You complete the programme with a recognised certification.
The SCAnS® training takes you deep into the field of behavioural analysis. During the programme, we cover topics such as:
- What behavioural and communication analysis is
- Emotions and their connection to behaviour
- Why attention and mindfulness matter
- An in‑depth explanation of, and practice with, the Six Channel Analysis System (SCAnS®), covering all six channels — from scientific foundations to practical application.
- A focused exploration of various conversation and elicitation techniques
What is SCAnS®?
Traditional methods often rely on subjective interpretation or outdated behavioural cues. The Six Channel Analysis System (SCAnS®), grounded in empirical behavioural science, provides a structured and evidence‑based framework that analyses six communication channels to detect mismatches and potential risk patterns. The model integrates facial behaviour, body language, voice, physiology, verbal content and interaction style to interpret behaviour reliably and in real time.
SCAnS® was developed over a period of 12 years and brings together expertise from multiple academic disciplines, including psychology, criminology and linguistics. It is used worldwide in sectors such as defence, investigation, healthcare, safety, business and other high‑stakes communication environments.

SCAnS® was developed as a response to the myths surrounding lie detection and the limitations of single‑channel approaches. It offers a practical, real‑time and ethically responsible alternative that works without technology or artificial settings. It supports professionals in gathering higher‑quality information, asking more targeted questions and making more reliable decisions in situations involving pressure, risk or sensitivity.
SCAnS® significantly improves accuracy in recognising deception and behavioural deviations by reducing cognitive bias and increasing analytical consistency. The multi‑channel approach reveals patterns that are often missed when observing only one channel, especially under conditions of stress or deliberate manipulation.
You develop a way of observing and listening that strengthens your insight, impact and influence. You learn not only to recognise behaviour, but to interpret it within context and translate it into professional action. This makes the training particularly valuable in environments where care, safety, collaboration and trust are essential.
- Analysis of the six communication channels
You work with 27 behavioural indicators across psychophysiology, facial behaviour, body language, voice, interaction style and verbal content. - The 3‑2‑7 algorithm
A practical method for structuring real‑time observations in the first seconds after a question or intervention. - Professional conversation techniques (overt and subtle)
Focused on effective information‑gathering in care, safety, governance and crisis communication. - Recognising changes and signals without assumptions
No tricks, no quick conclusions — but scientifically grounded behavioural interpretation. - Working with realistic case material
- Video analysis, audio fragments, simulations and assignments directly connected to your professional practice.
After successfully completing the training, you receive an official SCAnS® Certificate.
This demonstrates that you:
- Master the SCAnS® method
- Know and can apply all 27 behavioural indicators
- Can analyse professionally in complex situations
- Use SCAnS® responsibly and with care in your work
The certification is particularly relevant for professionals who work with people and want to deepen their understanding of behaviour — especially those involved in decision‑making, risk assessment, case management, crisis communication, supervision, enforcement, care, youth support, education and governance.
